Onondaga Historical Association Announces New Hours For Its Museum & Research Center

Syracuse, NY – The Onondaga Historical Association Museum & Research Center announces new hours for its museum and research center. Beginning on 31 January 2007, new weekday hours for the research center will be Wednesday – Friday, 10am- 2pm. The research center will no longer be open on Saturday. Patrons may still make appointments for Monday and Tuesday afternoons only. Use of the research center is free for OHA members and $7 per day for non-members.

Weekday hours for OHA’s museum have also changed. Beginning on 31 January 2007, the museum will be open Wednesday-Friday from 10am-2pm, instead of 12-4pm. The museum will continue to be open on Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm. Visiting the museum is free, however, donations are accepted.

“By changing the open hours of the museum and research center, we want to entice people working downtown to visit the museum and research center during their lunch breaks,” said Tom Hunter, OHA’s interim executive director. “We also want to encourage others outside of the downtown area to visit the museum and research center during those times as well.”

The Onondaga Historical Association is a private, non-profit organization that operates both a public museum and the Richard and Carolyn Wright Research Center located at the Association’s home at 321 Montgomery Street. Since 1863 OHA has collected, preserved and made available historic objects and records related to the history of Syracuse and Onondaga County. The museum features two floors with seven different exhibition galleries.
