The Onondaga Historical Association Museum offers a special program to schools during Black History Month. Struggles relives the era of the Underground Railroad in Syracuse by focusing on the Jerry Rescue, the Loguen family, and documents germane to this historic and consequential period. Led by well known, mid-19th century Syracuse activist & women’s rights supporter, Samuel May, students will be transported back to a time of great upheaval in Syracuse’s history. Through film, a sound & light show, and original documents, students will experience the struggles of those for and against slavery in a very dramatic way. OHA education staff usually offers this program to teachers at $100 per class during the year, but for the month of February only, the program cost is reduced to $75. The presentation is available by appointment only and lasts two hours. For more information or to place a reservation call Scott Peal at 428-1864 x 317.
