Onondaga County on the Move:

200 Years of Transportation

Starting September 20th, Onondaga Historical Association will feature a new exhibition drawn from its collections that highlights 200 years of changes in local modes of transportation. From travel by foot, horse, canal, plank and toll road, railroad, trolley, automobile and airplane, the exhibition will illuminate the vast changes that have occurred in the ways citizens of Onondaga County get from here to there.

This exhibition is sponsored in part by CENTRO – Central New York Regional Transportation Authority and Syracuse Research Corporation

Ghosts & Gargoyles: An Architectural Ghost Walk!

Join OHA’s Curator of History Dennis Connors and the History Upstagers drama troupe for a leisurely stroll of downtown Syracuse’s spirited architectural history. Departing on Sunday, September 9th at 2PM from the Onondaga Historical Association Museum, 321 Montgomery St. in downtown Syracuse, this walk back in time promises classic architecture, an encounter with an apparition or two involved in the colorful history of the area and a touch of nostalgia. Dress for the day – the tour goes rain or shine. Cost is $15 non-members, $13 members. Space is limited so call 428-1864 for reservations.

The Featured Artifact section of the OHA website has been updated with information about the First Pompey Academy, including photos of the model created by William H. Stevens in the years 1871-1874.
